Constructing Tarab Ling - update September 2010
Construction work of the buildings at the site started in April 2010 and work is now going on in a steady pace. Many tasks and works had been carried out before. Among the very pleasant ones was the laying of the foundation stone in the spring of 2009 the by the Tibetan Prime Minister in exile, professor Samdhong Rinpoche, who is the protector of Tarab Ling.
We have engaged a well qualified contractor who has extended his business from Delhi to Dehradun. So far we have had a good corporation and his work has been up to the mark.
At present foundations for the main teaching building and 2 guesthouses has been finished. Due to the heavy monsoon rain work is at present not carried out, but will be continued form the middle of September when the rain gets less intense.
We are engaging local people from the village in the project, both as laborers and as sub contractors. This is beneficial for the local community as well as for Tarab Ling to have a good local connection.
In order for us to be able to follow up the work financially, we are stretching the work by starting with half of the buildings included in phase 1 - the main teaching hall, 1- 2 guest houses and hopefully also the kitchen and dining hall. Providing the funds is available in time this part of the project could be finished at the end of 2011.
