A place for retreat and study of ancient inner science

View from Tarab Ling towards the Eastern foothills
Vision of Tarab Tulku Rinpoche:
Tarab Tulku Rinpoche, Ph.D. / Lharampa Geshe is one of the most revered Tibetan scholars of recent time. As Tarab Tulku Rinpoche was highly educated in ancient "inner science" of the East and for more than half his life worked in academic circles in the West, he was able to draw upon his well of experiences and insight and so develop and establish the Education, Unity in Duality.
Rinpoche found a beautiful piece of land in the foothills of the Himalayas that would be a perfect place to build a sanctuary, and where students and scholars from all over the world could come to study, contemplate and pick the ripened fruits of his lifework.
Unity in Duality:
An Approach to Life based on an 'Ancient Inner Science of Mind and Phenomena'
The "Ancient Inner Science", basic to Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism, can be traced back over 5000 years to the Indus Valley, the melting pot of East Asian, Middle Eastern, "European" and Central Asian cultures.
Nowadays people refer to Buddhism, Hinduism etc. mostly as "religions". However, in earlier times Buddhism was mainly an "Inner Science" including major disciplines such as philosophy, psychology, linguistic, medicine, yoga and art. Basically, Buddhism tried to discern dualistic nature for finding the truth of our reality through its "inner scientific method", developing practical means for its realization with the main purpose of attaining and creating harmony and peace within and without.
Astonishing enough, in today's meetings with scientific research teams, it shows that many of the "new findings of modern science" were already "discovered" and discussed in Buddhist literature 1500-2000 years ago.
By extracting universal aspects from the traditional Buddhist “"Inner Science of Mind" ("Psychology") and Inner Science of Phenomena ("Philosophy"), as it is presented in the Buddhist Sutras and the Tantras, Tarab Rinpoche conceived of "Unity in Duality". The term is a free translation of "Tendrel" (the interrelated origination) referred to by Tsongkhapa (the founder of the Gelug School to which His Holiness the Dalai Lama belongs) as the most important tenet revealed by Buddha Sakyamuni.
Unity in Duality is carried by the paradigm of the interrelated
nature of subject and object, body and 'mind' as well as 'energy' and matter. In this way, Tarab Rinpoche transformed
ancient knowledge expressed by the Tendrel View into a modern-day comprehensive system, Unity in Duality, for discerning the nature of that very interrelated reality.
The site:
At an altitude of 800 meters and nestling in the foothills of the Himalayas, Tarabling is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is surrounded by State Forests and reserved farmland, and a bare 11 km from Dehra Dun on the hillside overlooking the riverbed of the Baldi Nadi. Dehradun is situated some 250 km North of New Delhi.
After the purchase of an adjacent field, connecting to the village road and to a previously separate field, the land now consists of a total of 11000 m2.
