Towards Dzogchen based on
Tarab Tulku Rinpoche's teachings
with Lene Handberg
Tarab Rinpoche had placed the Mahamudra week right at the end of module IV (spiritual application) and of the whole UD training. As Rinpoche didn't leave material on Mahamudra, but on Dzogchen (two traditions which have many basic similarities, both representing deep non-dual approaches and equally difficult to apprehend and practice) we have decided to make the teachings on Dzogchen available for this year's summer course, with first priority for those students, who have finished the 3 Modules of the UD training.
Tarab Tulku Rinpoche insisted on the fact that to have appropriate results with such deep approaches, one should first make oneself a suitable vessel through a thorough application of the first modules of UD view and practices. Although we still may be far from having implemented fully the UD self-development, art of relating and therapeutic application, we still offer this week to round up our view of UD and as an inspiration to engage in an ever more essential approach to self-development/ spiritual development. However, if there is room, the teachings may be attended by persons from outside or beginners of the UD Training as well.
These teaching will be given according to a series of weekend courses given by Tarab Rinpoche over the years. The central teaching will be on the "Tsik Sum Ne Dek" / "Hitting the essence in 3 words", an extraordinary and famous teaching, in which Garab Dorje - the first Dzogchen master - at the time of his final passing subsumed the essence of the Dzogchen teachings.
Through these teachings Rinpoche gives us a taste of the final and crowning perspective of the whole path and its fruit.
At the inauguration of Tarab Ling, Dehradun, India, which will probably take place in the winter of 2011, we have asked Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche to give the missing Mahamudra teachings.
